December was insanely busy with parties left and right. Christmas came in a blink of an eye and there was no time to slow everything down and have time for myself. I usually have the tree ready, lights on, and presents wrapped but the month flew by and I was still wrapping presents the morning of and couldn’t do any fun DIY things that I’ve pinned or have seen on IG. I have to get better with time management and making sure I’m well prepared for new projects and set aside time to plan things out and follow through with it.
So fast forward to January and this is a New Year and 2015 started off with a great trip to Hawaii! The weather was perfect and everyday looked like a repeat from the day before: wake up. eat. beach. eat. eat again. sleep.
We tried new places to eat and loved this tiny hole in the wall place Ono Seafood near Waikiki beach that served seven different kinds of ahi poke (cubed, raw yellowfin tuna). We tried all their different flavors and loved their spicy tuna and miso ones the best.
Then we tried two new brunch places that combined unique flavors like bacon, black pepper maple, and cornflake gelato topped on some french toast at Koko Head Cafe and some macaroni and cheese pancakes at Morning Glass Coffee. I also wanted to try these guava chiffon pancakes from Cinnamons that were to die for and super light too! The flavors worked well together and if you’re ever traveling to Oahu- I would highly suggest bookmarking these spots on your Yelp App. Good thing we had friends who live there and knew about different places to eat so we could experience more local spots that we didn’t know about!
I love desserts and besides eating shaved ice everyday (which is so soft and melts in your mouth), I was on a mission to find the best coconut cake. The best cakes I could find were at two restaurants in the Halekulani Hotel and The Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The cakes were so light and fluffy with just the right amount of coconut and coconut flakes. I may have loved The Royal Hawaiian Hotel’s cake the best because it had pink haupia cream layered between the cake and toasted pink coconut flakes to top it off! And, the hotel is PINK TOO! Uhhh-maziing!!
This was the best food trip we’ve ever had with so many new things that we tried and just so relaxing- laying on the beach, enjoying the sun, eating some pineapple, and spending time with friends! Vacation is the best!!
We love you HAWAII!!!! Until next time…
