Our dearest friends, Susan and Ken, are about to welcome their first baby! Yeah!! Susan is almost eight months pregnant and looks absolutely amazing- she is definitely glowing! And to celebrate, we thought a book-themed baby shower was a great way to stock their shelves with stories they’ll love to read with baby Harper for years to come.
Finding the decor was a piece of cake, (since I’m an elementary school teacher) I have bins and bins of books I purchased for my students and many picture books I just love to collect for myself. So early in the morning we made a trip to the flower mart and picked some bright colors to work with. We were so happy that peonies are still in season and picked up 7 bunches immediately! We used Susan’s mason jars (from her wedding) and created 16 arrangements! Then Susan also purchased two sets of baby blocks that we used as decoration on the tables too.
Luckily, our friend owns a great spacious restaurant Aloha Cafe and she was able to set the food display and dessert table up perfectly! The theme for the dessert table revolved around donuts, cookies, milk, and coffee. We (re)used my Geronimo Balloon tassels and blew up a huge white balloon as a backdrop too. It looked great against the black chalk wall. Then we just propped a couple of books and added a floral arrangement in the back for a pop of color.
For our greeting table, we had California Donuts customize a “Welcome Baby Harper” platter and we had guests create a page for an ABC guest book. It came out super cute and we’ll create a cover and bind it for the baby! Last but not least, to thank everyone for attending the shower, Angela made packets of gummy worms that had the cutest labels on them- “Enjoy these Bookworms” to give to each guest.
We all had such a great time showering Susan, Ken, and Baby Harper with LOVE- and can’t wait to meet her soon!! It was the perfect way to celebrate our dearest friends. We love you guys!!!
